‘Call Of Duty: Warzone’ Season 3 Reloaded: Everything You Need To Know About Today’s Update

It’s a big week for all things Call Of Duty.

Yesterday, we learned the release date of Modern Warfare 2 and got to see the upcoming game’s newly-revealed cover art.

Today, Call Of Duty: Vanguard and Warzone kick off Season 3 Reloaded, with comes with a bunch of changes, great and small.

Here are the biggest changes in today’s massive update across both Caldera and Battle Royale as well as Rebirth Island and Resurgence.

1. Fast Travel Around Caldera

Back when Warzone took place in Verdansk, one of the big seasonal updates added fast travel by way of underground train. When Warzone Pacific launched alongside Call Of Duty: Vanguard, fast travel was lost.

Now the map-hopping mechanic is back, though this time you take underground mine carts to get around Caldera quickly (I sort of want a Call Of Duty kart-racing game now). Here’s the fast travel map:

2. New Squad HUD

The squad HUD in Warzone has been overhauled in a really big way. The Season 3 Reloaded update gives players a lot more information when it comes to what your squad is equipped with.

The new HUD allows you to see how many armor plates your teammates have, for instance, and what Killstreaks they’re carrying. You can also see the total amount of cash your team has, and a little Loadout Drop icon appears when you have enough to buy one. All of this should make teamwork that much easier.

Players will now see icons for the following items in the squad HUD:

  • Gas Mask
  • Kill Streak
  • Self-Revive
  • Keycards
  • Gulag Entry Token
  • Redeploy Extraction Token

No more lying about how many plates you have!

3. New Battle Royale Player Count

Warzone has one of the highest player counts of any battle royale game, with 150 players duking it out on Caldera and before that in Verdansk.

The Season 3 Reloaded update drops that player count to just 120, meaning you’ll have fewer bogies to contend with. I’ve always thought 150 was unnecessarily high, and the lower count could speed matches up a bit.

4. HP Increased On Rebirth Island

After the popularity of Iron Trials mode, Warzone’s Operators were given an HP boost up to 150 which significantly lowers Time To Kill (TTK). This means you have more chances to get out of harm’s way during a firefight, though it’s also a little harder to take down opponents.

Now this change has been implemented in Rebirth Island as well.

5. H4 Blixen SMG Added

A new SMG finds its way to Warzone with the Season 3 Reloaded update. The H4 Blixen is set to rival the Owen Gun for meta dominance. It’s a reliable three-hit kill SMG at a farther range than the Owen Gun, though it’s rate-of-fire is slower.

You can purchase the new gun in the Item Shop or unlock it via its weapon challenge: Get 3 Slide Kills in a single match 15 times. That could take a while.

6. New Serpentine Perk, More Lootable Perks

Vanguard’s Serpentine Perk arrives in Warzone today. Equipping this perk can help you get out of dicey long-range conflicts. The perk makes sprinting a more viable defensive maneuver—basically allowing you to run away from snipers more effectively.

The perk’s official description is: “Sprinting reduces incoming damage from bullets, explosives, and fire by 20%.”

Alongside Serpentine, new lootable perks can be found in Warzone starting today:

  • Tune Up
  • Tracker
  • Hardline
  • Kill Chain
  • E.O.D.

7. New Items Come To Caldera

Several new items should help players get more playtime when in Battle Royale modes. You can find all of these while looting.

  • Gulag Entry Token — This token grants players a second (or third or fourth) chance in the Gulag. If you get killed holding one, even if you’ve already won a Gulag match, you get to go back to the Gulag for a chance to keep fighting.
  • Redeploy Extraction Token — Similar to the previous item, this Token gives players a second chance. It essentially gives you a one-time redeploy. So long as your squad mates are alive, you’ll drop back into the map.
  • Speed Boost — This item does exactly what it sounds like, granting players a speed buff the moment it’s picked up. It’s a rare drop, and only lasts for a short time, but it can be a valuable asset in conflicts. This could be very effective in helping you get those Slide Kills for the H4 Blixen challenge.
  • Radar Jammer — This Field Upgrade scrambles enemy TacMaps and prevents other teams from using their Killstreaks in a short radius, making it a pretty effective defense especially in the final circles.
  • Lootable Loadout Drop Marker — Now you can find Loadout Drop markers in loot chests, a nice little surprise.

8. High Value Loot Zones

Denoted by a $ symbol on the map, these High Value Loot Zones offer players a chance to get the very best loot right from the start. This is a bit of a risk, however, since these zones always attract a ton of players looking for an early-game edge.

9. Champion Of Caldera LTM

The Champion of Caldera limited-time mode features 150 players and a single, continuously closing circle to keep everyone on their toes. No more circle countdowns, you just have to keep moving.

This Solos-only mode has a few other twists. Players will drop in with their Custom Loadout of choice, a Gas Mask and a single Redeploy Extraction Token. Loot is different in this mode as well, and includes upgraded Buy Stations that offer expensive goodies like an Advanced UAV and Specialist Bonus.

Finally, kills in Champion of Caldera immediately refill your health, equipment and ammo—so play aggressively and reap the rewards.

This all sounds super fun and I hope we get Duos and Quads modes at some point as well.

10. Occupation Scans On Rebirth Island

On Rebirth Island, new ‘Occupation Scans’ provide a new challenge for players. When a scan begins a warning will sound and players need to go prone immediately. Standing or crouching will reveal your location on the map. Savvy players will glean lots of helpful information about enemy teams if they play their cards right.

11. Stim Nerf

Finally, the Stim has been nerfed in a pretty major way which should benefit more casual players and upset sweats.

The first part of the nerf reduces the slide modifier. “The slide modifier was simply too extreme,” the patch notes read. “While we believe that sliding movement should be buffed when a Player is using a Stim, it still needs to fit within limits.”

The second half of the nerf adds a damage interruption mechanic. “If a Player receives Weapon damage, the healing effect will be interrupted. The previous mechanic allowed Players to repeatedly heal themselves while actively taking damage – which is not the intent of this tool.”

Those are the most significant changes to Warzone included in the Season 3 Reloaded update, but there are lots more small changes as well. These include:

  • Increased movement speed when downed
  • Decreased buyback cost for eliminated players from $4,000 to $3,000
  • The death tax—i.e. how much money you lose when you die—has been changed from 80:20 to 50:50, making death a less punishing experience.
  • Improved footstep audio
  • Nerfs to Armored Truck, a buff to Ghost

The following bug fixes have also been made:

  • Fixed an issue that was preventing 120Hz support on Xbox Series consoles.
  • Fixed an issue which caused a client crash when using FMJ and Dismantle on the same Weapon.
  • Fixed an issue that would occasionally cause a sliding Player to get stuck in the Buy Station interface.
  • Fixed an issue that would occasionally cause a crouched Player adjacent a wall to get stuck in the Buy Station interface.
  • Fixed an issue which caused the Loadout Menu to randomly appear when playing a match.
  • Fixed an issue causing the Welgun (VG) to not have the Frangible ammunition Attachment.
  • Fixed an issue which caused the 3-Line Rifle (VG) to fire slightly to the left.
  • Fixed an issue which caused the Kong Finishing Move to not throw enemies the correct distance.
  • Fixed an issue which caused Calling Card names to display placeholder text.
  • Fixed an issue which caused Tracers in the Poison Sky Mastercraft Bundle to not appear correctly.
  • Fixed an issue which caused some Weapon Attachments to appear misaligned in their Dynamic Icons
  • Fixed an issue where the “Perks of the Job” Mission named the incorrect Perk required.
  • Fixed an issue which caused the Unlock Mission for the “Weaver” Operator to say “Coming Soon.”
  • Fixed an issue which caused the TEC-9 (BOCW) to not display the 36 Rnd Speed Mag during gameplay.
  • Fixed an issue which caused the Player’s view to be obstructed when ADS-ing with the Adler “Tortured and Rescued” Operator Skin.
  • Fixed an issue which caused flickering textures on Heavy Weapon Drop Crates.
  • Fixed an issue which caused several Vanguard Melee Weapons to display the same codename.
  • Fixed an issue which caused the UGR (BOCW) to experience unintended damage reduction when the EOD Perk and Explosive Rounds Magazine Attachment were equipped.

And that’s everything you need to know about the Warzone Season 3 Reloaded update!
