Cambridge Audio has announced that its new flagship Alva TT V2 turntable is going to start shipping just in time to celebrate Record Store Day. The British hi-fi specialist’s latest turntable is designed for playing vinyl records in a traditional hi-fi setup, as well as being capable of streaming records wirelessly to a pair of Bluetooth headphones, amplifier or speaker.

The Alva TT V2 is a beautifully built turntable backed up by Cambridge Audio’s half a century of producing high-end audio gear. The new turntable builds on the acclaimed and innovative Alva TT model, the world’s first AptX HD Bluetooth turntable. This second iteration adds refinements that make it an ideal perfect blend of high-performance and flexibility.

The turntable is a direct drive model and includes a built-in switchable phono stage as well as Apt X HD 24-bit/48kHz hi-res Bluetooth streaming. This high-end streaming option has been included for audiophiles who want to play their vinyl wirelessly to a pair of Bluetooth headphones with the best possible sound quality.

The Alva TT V2 combines its direct drive motor with a heavy aluminum top plate and polyoxymethylene (POM) platter. It’s pre-installed with an Alva MC cartridge on a new and improved tonearm with a detachable headshell, switchable phono stage, plus the ability to toggle the Bluetooth circuit on or off as needed.

The switchable phono stage is based on the Alva Duo and offers the flexibility and choice of using the Alva TT V2 with the phono stage of an existing stereo amplifier, while also making it easy to upgrade a hi-fi system’s components over time. The facility to switch off the Bluetooth function when its not in use produces a shorter signal path as well as lowering energy consumption.
