Redmond, WA. Today HaptX introduced its new HaptX Gloves G1. The new haptic gloves are remarkably different from the company’s first product, the DK2, a high priced glove with a bulkier form factor that is used in heavy industry. In contrast the new G1 is connected to a lightweight backpack (the “Airpack”), uses microfluidics to channel air into the gloves, and looks and fits more like a normal glove.
Inside the Gloves are hundreds of microfluidic actuators that physically displace your skin, so when you touch and interact with virtual objects, the objects feel real. The wireless Airpack controls the flow of compressed air into the gloves. It has three hours of battery power, and the gloves come in four sizes.

We’ve been following HaptX since 2016, when they were still called AxonVR. At that time, they were circulating a concept for a Ready Player One full body haptic experience. Even then, the company knew it had to be focused on one product at a time, and gloves were the target. Soon thereafter, they started traveling to shows like CES and SXSW to demonstrate their Development Kit, which was accurate enough to simulate the feeling of raindrops. It was so expensive only defense and heavy industry could afford them.
HaptX is another “overnight success” that has taken a decade to deliver its first truly accessible enterprise haptic gloves for enterprise. “We’ve got the cost of the gloves down to as low as $4500 per pair, plus a monthly subscription, which is an amazing drop compared to the tens of thousands of dollars that our previous product cost,” said Chief Revenue Officer Joe Michaels. “This price will be highly competitive in the enterprise metaverse market, especially when you consider the quality of our haptic feedback. We feel we’ve finally launched a product that can easily fit the budget of enterprise, industrial, and government customers.”
New features of the HaptX SDK include: advanced vibrotactile feedback for simulation of microscale surface textures; a ROS node that enables telerobotics operators to connect HaptX Gloves G1 to remote robots for natural, accurate control; and a haptic multiplayer feature, which allows multiple users to work in the same virtual environment and feel the same objects, regardless of physical location, vastly improving collaborative training, design reviews, and more.
