Skybound Entertainment, the cross-media production company behind The Walking Dead franchise, announced today that it has named prominent attorney, digital-media consultant and conference organizer Ned Sherman as its Chief Business Affairs & Legal Officer.

“Ned has maintained a stellar career in the digital and entertainment industry and we’re thrilled to have that wealth of experience now with Skybound,” said Skybound CEO David Alpert. “With his work as founder of Digital Media Wire and many years serving as legal counsel across entertainment franchises, film and TV, games, music and more, we believe he’s a tremendous asset to bolster our legal and compliance capabilities and help drive our overall growth strategy.”

Sherman will oversee all legal and business affairs and related strategy for Skybound, best known as the company behind The Walking Dead’s many expressions on the long-running AMC TV shows, graphic novels, games, and more. The company also produces the Image Comics title and adult-focused Amazon animated superhero series Invincible, party card game Superfight, and sci-fi/horror podcast and comic series Impact Winter.

Sherman has been a partner and leader of the digital transactions team at law firm Manatt, Phelps & Phillips for several years, while also presiding with wife Tinzar Sherman over the Digital Media Wire group of conferences. DMW’s events include a number of prominent Los Angeles and New York shows, including Digital Entertainment World and the recently concluded Los Angeles Games Conference (note: I’ve moderated panels at many of those conferences for several years).

“It’s an incredible time to join Skybound and I’m excited to take part in the company’s evolution as a growing entertainment content company,” Sherman said. “I look forward to working with the leadership team to support Skybound’s vision to deliver amazing content for fans globally.”

Sherman has advised numerous companies, creators and financiers on media tech, entertainment franchises, TV, movies, games, esports, music, podcasts and more, served as global artist manager and general counsel for a major hip-hop artist, and was an executive several media ventures and a boutique investment bank.
